Palmetto Mourns the Loss of a Friend
A long time friend of Palmetto Ambulance Service, Cecil Neely, was laid to rest on Sunday, July 18, 2010. We had the privilege of caring for Mr. Neely for the last five years and during that time we had the opportunity to get to know an extraordinary individual whom we will deeply miss. It was our great honor to serve as the Pall Bearers for a man that we loved and considered part of the Palmetto family. With friends and family gathered together at Hopewell Baptist Church in Laurens, SC, we said goodbye to a son, brother, husband, father, grandfather and friend.
His Obituary read as follows:
“The life of Mr. Cecil Neely has called us together today to share memories of the one we loved so dearly. Cecil was the son of the late Willie H. and Lonnie Bryson Neely, and was born in Laurens County, South Carolina. At an early age he joined the Hopewell Baptist Church, and was a faithful member until his health declined. He was a 1957 graduate of Sanders High School in Laurens, SC and was an employee of Wilson Sporting Goods in Fountain Inn, SC for many years. Two brothers, William Arthur Neely and Willie C. Neely, predeceased him. Cecil’s life came to an end on Tuesday, July 13, 2010, at Oakmont Nursing Home in Greenville, SC. He leaves behind a family that loved him dearly. His survivors are his wife, Argyle Neely, of the home; his daughter, Zorado Neely Robertson of Fountain Inn, SC; two grandsons, Travis and Cameron Robertson of Fountain Inn, SC; four brothers, Bennie Lee (Nancy) Neely, O.T. (Mary) Neely, Furman (Carolyn) Neely and John (Bertha) Neely, all of Laurens, SC; three sisters-in-law, Magnolia Neely of Simpsonville, SC, Lana Meekins of Honea Path, SC, and Annie Mae Richardson of Laurens, SC, and a host of other relatives and friends.” |
