At February's in-service in Greenville on Tuesday night Karen Young put together an Italian feast of lasagna and garlic bread for the associates. The stove at the station was at full capacity so Parker and Maxie offered up their kitchens to complete the menu. Karen and Timmy Byrd served everyone. With bellies full and garlic on their breath the associates in Greenville were ready to get down to business at the February in-service.

The agenda was full with everything from in-service training to a presentation from Zach "Insurance Guy" Sandlin. Mustering all her vocal strength, Area Supervisor Karen Minnie Mouse Young addressed the associates in Greenville to get the meeting started. Karen has been fighting the seasonal funk and losing her voice over the last few days. Along with a few housekeeping notes, she thanked everyone for their continued professionalism in caring for the new station. She also addressed some protocol issues relating to lift assists for bariatric patients and some communication with dispatch. Karen also announced the completion of 185 days of safety here in Greenville and did the cash drawings for the associates. Those going home with a few extra dollars in their pockets included: David Mosteller, David Hwu, Nathan Seay, Donya Irby, Frankie Lewis, Julie Cato, Chris Medlin, Steven Brown, Anthony Parker, and Lindsey McMillan. The night continued with Karen introducing Timothy Byrd as the new Shift Supervisor in Greenville. Timmy has just recently returned to PAS after a brief period working as a paramedic in Spartanburg. He brings a great degree of experience and knowledge to the position having been in the EMS system for the last 13 years, 5 of which as a Paramedic. It will be a much needed relief to have Timmy on board, said Karen. Feb. 2010 G'ville IST Pic 8 | Home

The February Associate of the Month was awarded to Cory Frasco. Cory has been with Palmetto Ambulance Service for 7 months and has been an EMT for a little over a year. She said the most exciting thing about her job is, Not knowing what to expect from one day to the next. Every day brings something different. Karen introduced Cory as, an associate who goes above and beyond her jobs normal duties and does things routinely without having to be asked. Feb 2010 G'ville Associate of the Month | Home

Once Karen was finished she turned the meeting over to Palmetto Ambulance President and CEO, Keith Stille. His first piece of business was to ask some of the "big, tough guys" to head out back to unload the new furniture for the day room before the rains came in. It was a good opportunity for everyone to get up and stretch before the sleepiness set in from all that lasagna. Next, Keith introduced the new insurance program for the company. After reviewing all the different packages that would be available, Keith and insurance representative, Zach Sandlin, began meeting with associates one on one to answer any questions and sign them up for the insurance package of their choice.
